Description
Ardex WPC – Waterproof Protection Coating
Ardex WPC – A cement-based, rapid-drying waterproof protection coating that allows tiling to commence after just 90 minutes.
It is used to fill holes, gaps, and joints and for general waterproofing applications with an adjustable mix ratio.
Ardex WPC Uses
Ardex WPC waterproofs backgrounds such as cement or gypsum plaster, plasterboard, or wood-based materials before fixing tiles in domestic or commercial kitchens, showers, and bathrooms.
PLEASE NOTE:
Avoid using Timber Sheets & Boards in wet locations. Ideally, they should be replaced or over-sheeted with plasterboard before applying Ardex WPC. Timber-based sheets or boards are also not recommended for use in commercial showers, etc.
NOTE: Concrete floors and cement/sand screeds may also be protected from the ingress of surface water by the application of Ardex WPC.
Application
- Use Mix One with a spatula, pallet knife, or trowel to seal joints in corners and fill holes and gaps around fixtures, pipes, etc., before applying two coats of Mix Two. Where joints tend to crack, they should be reinforced with ARDEX Mesh Scrim Tape before applying Mix One.
As a result, fill uneven areas with a trowel or a single application of Mix One that is at least 3mm thick. This is required to obtain a practical waterproof protection coat. Consequently, no overcoating with Mix Two is necessary.
- Use Mix Two to completely coat the surface Apply it evenly with a paintbrush or roller and work the material well into the corners with a brush. To obtain an effective waterproof protection layer, a second coat will be necessary, and the total thickness should be at least 0.8mm.
Apply the second coat of Mix 2 approximately 30 minutes after the first coat.
Fix Ceramic Tiles, Mosaics, etc., to the second coat after around 1 hour.
At temperatures below 5°C, do not use Ardex WPC or Ardex WPC W. As a result, higher temperatures will decrease drying time, while lower temperatures will increase drying times.
