Arditex CL Latex Levelling Compound Uses
For smoothing and levelling most common internal subfloors such as concrete, cement/ sand and Gypsum (anhydrite) screeds. Arditex CL can be laid from a feathered edge to 10mm in a single application, or up to 30mm by incorporating Ardex Coarse Aggregate.
On highly porous or absorbent surfaces, such as concrete or cement/sand screeds, prime the surface with Ardex P51 Primer in accordance with the data sheet.
The use of Ardex P51 Primer will aid application, improve coverage and reduce suction and pinholes. If the subfloor is impervious or very dense e.g. ceramic tiles, you must prime with Ardex P4 Rapid Drying Multi-Purpose Primer, in accordance with the data sheet.
Preparing Your Floor Levelling Compound: A Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prime the Subfloor
- For Absorbent Subfloors: Start by preparing a primer solution. Mix one part of a suitable acrylic primer with four parts water. Apply this evenly on the floor to ensure proper adhesion.
- For Non-Absorbent Subfloors: Use the primer undiluted to guarantee a strong bond on less porous surfaces.
2. Mixing the Compound
- Gather the Right Tools: You’ll need a powerful, corded drill and a paddle attachment. Most cordless drills may lack the necessary power.
- Mix Gradually: Begin by adding a small amount of the powder to room-temperature water. Gradually incorporate more powder, stirring continuously. This helps maintain a manageable consistency and prevents the mixture from becoming too thick too quickly.
3. Mind the Working Time
- The compound remains workable for approximately 15 to 20 minutes at 20°C. Temperature, humidity, and subfloor characteristics can affect this time.
4. Avoid Over-Mixing
- Mixing one bag at a time is advisable. Over-mixing can lead to a rapid thickening, making it difficult to pour a smooth layer.
By following these steps, you’ll create a smooth, even surface without the frustration of common mishaps.
